Contraindications: Finasteride 1 mg is contraindicated in the following patients: Pregnancy: Teratogenicity (pregnancy category X). Children: Hypersensitivity to the components.

Adverse Reactions: Finasteride is generally well tolerated. Adverse reactions have usually been mild and transient, and did not require discontinuation of treatment. The following adverse reactions related to the drug may occur: decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, decreased ejaculation volume. If any of these side effects occur, they are transient in nature and disappear after discontinuation of Finasteride treatment. Finasteride is also being used to treat older men with BPH, at doses 5 times higher than that recommended for male hair loss. Other adverse reactions that have been reported with the 5 mg dose after marketing include: Hyperesthesia and breast enlargement and hypersensitivity reactions, including lip swelling and rash.
